Vintage Pyrex

I have a new love. Vintage Pyrex. Before I saw the picture below on Pinterest, I didn't even know vintage Pyrex existed.

Well, I knew Pyrex existed and that all grandmothers had Pyrex, thus making it vintage, but I never knew how beautiful it was!

Just look at those colors! I'm guessing by the lustre and shine of these bowls that they've never seen the inside of a hot dishwasher.

My Pyrex goes through the dishwasher and they aren't shiny and pretty like these ones.

Did you know Pyrex this cute was ever made? Those cotton candy pink stripes are adorable.

And just look at all the pink. And the plates with the ruffles? I can barely handle them! How I would have loved to have one of those pink ruffle plates to display these cookies.

Is it just my narrow knowledge on the subject or are there not as many girly pretty designs available to us today?

If pink isn't your thing look at this collection.

Complete and total eye candy.

We actually have a square teal dish that looks like it could fit in with this collection. Or at least could have when it was new. We use it for nachos and wash it in the dishwasher. It is well loved and it shows, by its wear. :)

And did you know Pyrex made drinkware? I didn't. But I do now!

And in glass, too.

I want them all.

Especially these cute little rectangle ones.

And I want to cook peas, carrots and corn in them and serve them with meatloaf and mashed potatoes and wear a ruffled apron and call my husband "Dear" and bring him a pipe, newspaper and a pair of slippers.

Speaking of nostalgia, I swear I've seen this set pictured above in Mimi's cupboard. I'm going to have to raid her kitchen for vintage Pyrex next time I'm there.

I'll let you know what I find.

Do you get all googly eyed over things like this? What vintage Pyrex pieces do you have?

  3. Yup, vintage Pyrex makes me swoon. (Except for the set we got four our wedding 23 years ago. I still refuse to admit that that one is vintage.) Usually the prices and fact that I'm a klutz keep me from bringing too much home.

I hadn't seen the candy stripe pink until I read your post. I could replan my kitchen around a set of that! :-)

    1. I agree, that pink candy stripe deserves a kitchen designed around it!

  4. I love love love the pink pyrex - thankfully I don't have an inch of room to spare or I'd be obsessively on the hunt, so darling!

I do have a couple of the small yellow rectangular pieces - it was a set of four, given to me in 1972! One larger, one medium and two small, I think??? Shades of yellow and orange. So 70's.

    Happy Vintage Thingie Thursday!

    1. The Pyrex I got for my wedding is clear. I love my Pyrex dishes, but they don't have the same character as the vintage designs. Thanks for the visit!

  6. Those "cute little rectangle ones" are refrigerator dishes! I've had a set for years (45?)! Do NOT put them in the microwave! Maybe mine had a crack, but who knows? The microwave finished it off!

    1. How sad! I've had cracks in dishes from the microwave in the past. But nothing as precious as a cute little Pyrex dish!

  7. These are nice pieces, I have seen several during my Goodwill thrifting hauls but nothing as nice as this. Thanks for sharing and linking up with us at the #WWDParty.

    1. I just had to throw out 2 broken baking dishes. I hope I can find something to replace them at a thrift store! I'm not expecting to find anything this nice though. :)
